Quality suit!
I have improvised baby onsies in the past to avoid the dangerous cone, but this suit is amazing! Made very well of comfortable stretchy material. Arrived 24 hours after I ordered, that was crazy as I live in the middle of nowhere and many packages take weeks to arrive. Five stars for sure!!!

Just what I needed
My dog had TPLO surgery last week. I bought this and the Licksleeve to use instead of the cone. And this works so much better than the Licksleeve. My dog could go and do his business without having to undo it every time.

Excellent product
My dog has had two TPLO’s and is looking at more surgery on his hind leg. These fit exactly as measured. Make sure you measure correctly! The suit has big Velcro bands so it would be hard for a dog to slip out of one. The legs are not overly long. My dog is a shorty, and the suit was great! He wasn’t tripping over the suit legs. The material is very sturdy. My husband says he looks like SuperDog now! I don’t have to worry about taking it off for him to pee or potty, it is designed very well.

Ok..first of all!!! The customer service!!!! Dana answers her phone and has worked directly with me on sizing..as my cane corso is an in between size. She has sent me 2 suits! (Before I even sent the first one back. USA made by a real person that cares! My pup has 2 knee surgeries coming up and hates the cone..to point that she almost hurts herself fighting it. I’m so thankful to find a perfect suit..as I have spent so much ordering different ones online. Highly recommend!!!

Great fit and excellent coverage
Size guidelines are accurate. Pay attention to the thigh measurement as the legs should be snug but won't fit if legs are too big. I really like the coverage at the base of the tail, as our pup had an open sore near the tail and this suit covers even that area for great protection. *purchased directly from the vendor*

Great alternative to the cone
I used it post op for my poodles surgical wound on his hip. The garment is light weight, fits well, and washable. To prevent wound licking, you may have to cover the wound under the garment. Measure carefully. The supplier was wonderful to work with since I initially ordered one that was too small. Super product.

I received this relatively quick but only tried it on my dog so far. She has surgery next week and time will tell. So at this point, I can not give it a more accurate review. I can say that I would like for it to have another strip or 2 of velcro around the body since it hangs a little loose.UPDATE: After I wrote my initial review, I received a message from Dana (the owner of the Buckwheat recovery suit. She asked for photos and measurements of my dog, which I sent. She said she would have a new one shipped out to me the next day. I received the new one today and tried it on my dog. It fits so much better. I hate to say that I am looking forward to my dog surgery but only so she could wear this and not a cone. I can't thank Dana enough for the excellent customer service.

This product is a lifesaver!!! Mine! The TPLO surgery post op needs have been exhausting trying to control a Poodle who loves to run, jump, and lick!l All the no no’s. He removed his cone during the over-night at the animal hospital. Busy guy! So this did not go well and found myself sleep deprived like a mom with a newborn! I appreciate finding this! It is well made and durable. He is comfortable tonight sleeping with ease free of the dreaded cone! Thank you!

Good product
The cone wasn’t working for us so I needed to try something different. This did the trick. Frankly, I’m relieved this product exists. My dog occasionally still licks through the fabric but overall the wound is protected. Fabric is breathable and comfy. The fitting is a bit wonky for my dog: legs were baggy and barrel was too short but that’s ok. Velcro adjustments around stomach and across chest.

My dog loves you!!!
The rear leg sleeve(s) has kept my dog from licking at a persistent wound for over a week now. It is so much more convenient than the cone of shame. Thank you so much for the alteration, too! The most we had to do was use some thin velco strips around the ankle so he wouldn't pull his leg through when he curls up at night. We found that the small electric cord organizer velcro strips worked perfectly. Added Bonus: Your pup looks like he/she is wearing some stylish PJs.

Incredible Customer Service and Great Product
My dog had TPLO surgery and couldn't deal with any of the three cones we bought. We gave this product a try but, due to my dog's atypical measurements, the suit was too large. I contacted the seller and we went over my dog's measurements. She created a custom suit (added an extension) and sent it out for next day delivery. The new suit fits great and allows my dog to finally relax and heal without a cone or sedatives. This may be the best customer service I've ever experienced. Kudos to Dana and Buckwheat Dog! I cannot recommend this seller and product enough.

Super sturdy construction!
Love this product! The way it’s made is very sturdy and will last a lifetime. It’s a wonderful design! The only input insight have is the neck Velcro was really wide. I know it’s for safety but if it was a tiny bit more narrow I think it would be a nice option maybe. But man that Velcro is tough and strong. It’s not coming off that dog which is great. Super great material used, comfy and durable.

Every Veterinarian Should Know About This Product!
I'm so grateful for this amazing product! After trying to make DIY solutions with socks (following YouTube videos) I was thrilled to find this product. She was totally comfortable wearing it, and she never even tried to bit at her stitches with this suit on (she was constantly trying with my other DIY attempts.) She slept in it, went potty in it, pretty much lived in it - other than when we went on walks, I took it off her. It washed up perfectly. I was a bit sloppy with my measurements and ordered it a bit too big, but it worked fine, I just rolled up the legs when I put it on her. I cannot recommend this product highly enough. Every veterinary office should know about this!

Above and beyond Personal service! Was able to get a custom fitted surgery suit for my dog. Shipping was faster than it I ever imagined! I ordered it one day, and by the next day it had been FedEx overnighted to my front door.The first surgery suit did not fit as perfectly since my dog has a odd shaped body, long legs, long body yet a deep chest. I was absolutely shocked when the owner whipped up another surgery suit for my dog, and had that one overnighted to us as well! Free of charge!! Absolutely above and beyond service I have never experienced anywhere else before. And this is a lifesaver! My doberman had ALC surgery and the vet loved the idea of the body/surgery suit much better and so we did not even need to take home the “cone of shame”. So much better than an E-Collar! Dog loves it
We are on day 3 of using this and it has changed the game. No longer is my girl knocking over her water dish and constantly trying to get the cone off, instead she feels part of the family and so much more normal as she heals. Zero resistance to putting it on and went from constantly trying to get at the staples to literally not even noticing they are there (I was actually quite shocked by that). Dana was great to work with since we needed a custom measurement and some extra hip coverage. Totally worth the money for your pet!

Best recovery outfit!!
This was the best outfit for our dog who was recovering from bilateral knee surgery! I didn’t want to use a cone or a blow up collar on her and this was the best ever! Easy to get on and off, never had an issue of her wanting to lick the suture areas, washes up great and with all the hair that was shaved off her hind end it kept her warm in the cold temp! Dana was great in helping me choose the correct size for our girl! Definitely recommend, even our Vet was impressed with it! Than you Buckwheat!!

Buckwheat Dog Surgery Suit is PERFECT!
This surgery suit is fantastic. The material is wonderful. Very soft with just the right of stretch. Fits great. No problems at all with going potty. It snowed today and no problem outside with the suit at all! My Westie had to have a right knee surgery to repair his ACL. He had his left knee done three years ago. At that time, it was a nightmare to keep him away from the incision. He hated the cone, and I didn't really have any other way to keep him away from the stitches. So glad I found this on Amazon. I measured wrong the first time. Contacted the seller and was sent out a new suit with no charge! Arrived day before surgery. Highly recommend!

Having TPLO surgery? Get this suit!
105 lb doberman had TPLO surgery on his left hind leg and this suit was worth every penny. It allowed us to ditch the uncomfortable cone and opt for this recovery suit that was not only more comfortable, but kept him from bothering the stitches. It allowed for potty breaks without having to remove, lose enough to not bother the wound and was easy to don and doff. I wouldn't want to recover from knee surgery in a cone and I didn't want my fur kid to either. This removed the guilt and was seriously the best thing I could have done for him to aid in his recovery. I would give 10 stars if I could.

The product is awesome!... works as described ... My dog is an 80 pound Australian Shepard that had ACL surgery. This cover replaced the e-collar and so much more comfortable for the dog. He does want to lick the incision constantly... not a problem at all now.

I ordered off the actual website, but I had to leave a review on here because the product/customer service is beyond amazing! The owner offered to make some adjustments to the suit because my dog was measuring big in the chest. When we received it, it still didn't fit quite perfect. So she said we could do a return or she could send extenders in the mail for the suit. She sent the extenders right over and the suit now fits perfect! Most amazing customer service and product! Not to mention it said 2 day shipping & it was here in a day. I would recommend to everyone.

Ordered for my dog who had a mass removed on his thigh and the size didn’t work well for his measurements. The chest flaps were too long and he would urinate on them. Dana reached out to me and made another suit at no cost for my dog. The chest flaps, though more narrow, still unfortunately cover his prepuce so he still has to take the suit off to urinate. He has odd measurements but Dana is a great owner and is willing to make her customers happy! I would definitely purchase other products from her in the future!

Great after TPLO surgery
Got this for my Labrador after tplo surgery. She didn’t mind wearing it. It covered her incision and can stay on while going to the bathroom. I was able to use this during the day in place of the cone.

It worked for our German Shepherd
Our 115 lb German Shepherd Bear had a very large hot spot on his hip. We were looking for something different than the cone of shame. We ordered the XXL, it arrived quickly. We were able to get the hot spot healed with medication from the vet and using the suit and the cone as backup. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars for comfort is because after a few days he wanted to avoid it when he saw it coming. The strap that went around his back need to be shorter, it hung down and we could have sent it back to Dana to have her send out a revised suit. We did not want to be without it, so I waited till he didn't need it any more and sewed on a 5" piece of velcro in case Bear ever needs it again.

Great product
Our lab did not try to lick her surgery site once while wearing this. The minute we took it off she’d start licking but, miraculously, not even focus on it when we put it back on. Recovering from TPLO surgery is no joke, but this product certainly made it easier. The owner also helped us a lot!

Wish I had bought this for my dogs TPLO surgeries, would have been perfect instead of cone. I am now using it for warmth on my dogs back legs in the cold weather after those surgeries and also for ant anxiety issues. It is so well designed and easy to use and my dog does not mind it at all. Absolutely love this suit for surgery recovery. It’s the most comfortable option I’ve found, and I’ve tried many. It is a lightweight/breathable fabric and still sturdy. There are no thin straps to cause rubbing or discomfort. It hugs the body and protects the whole leg. I would love it if there was a full body option as my golden licks at his IV sight on front leg as well.

My dog had surgery on her back leg, and I was desperate to find something to keep her from licking it. Because she has neck issues, a cone was not a good option. This was perfect for her. It is thick which was good as that it stopped her from being able to really scratch that area through the material. I highly recommend!

Buy prior to surgery, our girl wouldn’t let us touch her leg at all.
Fabric, quality, and overall fit. We tried it on the other leg, and it would have been perfect, she would not let us touch the other leg, and cried out in pain and became very anxious. Wish we’d had it so our veterinary surgeon could have put it on while she was sedated. Far superior to the dreaded cone.

Best invention since the wheel‼️
I've tried EVERYTHING to stop my 10 year old Weimaraner from licking an area on his hind leg. Used the horrid plastic cone until the stitches were removed and it was healed, but as soon as we took it off he started licking the area again and it was raw within a day.Tried a donut collar, but his nose is too long and he could reach the area (on his hind knee). Tried bad tasing sprays of 5 varieties and he licked them all. Tried rigging a leg covering with an old pair of garters and a sock. Tried EVERYTHING!Not only does this suit work, it makes life easy because he can pee and poop while wearing it... and we live on a farm which he runs around all day.Unfortunately, I measured incorrectly and bought the largest size, which fits fine on the length, but is way too big on the width. Regardless... I've got him in it and it's working! I've just ordered another one that will fit better. He needs one for the daytime to run around the farm in, and another to sleep in anyway.

Genius idea, perfect fit, and amazing customer service
I contacted the seller before I placed my order with the measurements of my dog, Mowgli, as he tore one of his CCLs. My other dog tore both of hers and we had to pay for 2 surgeries and the normal cone really sucked, and even the "soft" inflatable inner-tube cone didn't work because she could still reach her incision and lick it/mess with it. I tried this product for my now 3rd go around with a TPLO surgery and it's been amazing. The seller was quick and receptive with their response and custom made the sleeve to fit my dog's measurements. It shipped quickly and my dog has been wearing it for 5 days now and it is such a game changer. He can wear it full time and go potty with it on, and it prevents him from licking his incision while being way more comfortable than a cone. Honestly I think it helps with his anxiety as well. Thank you guys for creating this product and I am spreading the word so this becomes the normal way to help dogs during post-op! My dog's surgeon/doctor literally wants to make this a default option for dogs after surgery at his animal hospital and it is so perfect. The recovery suit is a excellent alternative to a "cone"
I wasn't sure if this would work for my German shepherd who had two cysts removed, one from her back and one from her leg. I was delighted with the results, as was my dog; no dreaded cone, no anxious pup. The merchant was extremely helpful with sizing; making adjustments so as to fit my dog. I highly recommend this product.

SAVED MY LIFE
This suit has saved my life!! My dog got surgery on her knee and due to boredom (I think) had licked a hot spot into her knee and nothing would keep her from it. Not even her cone! Whenever I left her, I was constantly worried about her licking into it again and it was a vicious cycle. Now this suit has helped me have peace of mind when I leave her and the hot spot is healing beautifully. I'm hoping when all the hair has grown back she won't start licking again, BUT that is not the suit's responsibility :) The suit has done exactly what it was supposed to do. I wish I had found this product years ago when my dog had surgery. We have tried cones and donuts of various sizes but they are too small or too big and he can always get at his would on Judi’s rear leg, this long healing times. This product is well made and easy to use. My dog healed nicely. Would highly recommend.

Great option post tplo
First, I love supporting small business. Even though this is sold via Amazon it’s family owned and the owners are so nice!I love this product. I believe that getting good rest after surgery helps the healing process dramatically - for humans and dogs. We paired this with a donut and she has been sleeping post surgery so soundly it fills my heart. We tried the cone for a night and she just never got comfortable.Really good product. My dog is a little overweight so we might have been able to go up a size but it’s working just fine so far!

My dog had TPLO surgery and the cone of shame was not comfortable. This suit is made of great quality. He has not attempted to lick his suture area and does not mind wearing the suit. Of course i will still cone him when be is left alone, just in case

it fits perfectly and my little guy can't lick at his incision. no more cone of shame or doughnut! only downfall is, because of his chest circumference, some of the Velcro is exposed and he gets stuck to the rug when he lays on that side.

First off they have the most incredible customer service ensuring you get the proper fit for your dog!We were able to get an extension piece to make it more adjustable so our dog could be more comfortable. I cannot imagine not having this suit for her recovery and putting her through wearing a cone for three weeks straight.I would recommend purchasing two so you can wash one and have one to use. If we are ever in this situation again we will buy an additional suit for her.We Highly recommend this company and their suits!!!Here are some tips we have for those going through recovery with your dogs right now.Get your dog the 3 pack of whipped cream cans from Costco or Sam’s club to help your dog take their pills. We tried the pill pockets and after biting into a couple of them and tasting the medication, she would refuse to eat them. Then we remembered getting her a pupachino from Starbucks (whipped cream). It worked like magic. She laps up the whipped cream with the pills and is happy about it. She might have whipped cream withdrawal when her pills are all gone lol!Get a Am/PM pill box so you can organize all their pills. It helps keep the confusion down when multiple people are giving the medications. The pill box made it so easy to see if the dog had received her pills and not forget or over does her by mistake.We have lots of stairs to reach our backyard for her to be able to use the bathroom. We attempted to make an area for her to use on the deck with a piece of real grass sod laid on top of a tarp. It might work for a less picky dog but ours would not use it. She liked laying on it lol!We are so grateful to Buckwheat Dog for making a suit to help in our dog’s recovery! May all your fur babies heal well and stay safe!

I was searching the internet for something like this and I’ve never been more grateful for Amazon. My dog had a mast cyst treated with Stelfonta. His leg was raw and weepy for a long time, months. He would not leave the leg alone and he made it worse by licking and chewing it. The vet had one special outfit on hand and we had to constantly wash it and someone had to watch him constantly to keep the leg safe when it wasn’t covered by an outfit. I searched the Internet for a similar outfit. Our vet only had one in stock. What a blessing to find this company. We ordered one outfit custom-made and she even sent us an extra that had been returned so we could have a couple to trade off and try different sizes. I don’t think he would still be with us today because he would not leave the leg alone to let it heal. This company was such a blessing to find! I can’t say enough good about it! It’s a product that you don’t know is that you need until you need it and it was custom-made to size for our dog. She called me and talked to me about what we needed and was so compassionate. I have washed them several times and they held up well. I never imagined that Amazon would link me to this small family business but I am sure glad it did!

Very secure and comfortable for my dog after having surgery on his leg
This is a wonderful suit that has allowed me to leave my dog alone at times without worrying about him getting to his wound. The Velcro on this suit is incredibly secure and I don’t think any dog can escape it even my Houdini dog. I use this one during the day if I have to leave him home alone. It’s a wonderful product and I highly recommended it for a dog that has had leg surgery or other leg issues and needs a more secure recovery suit. It gives me peace of mind knowing I can leave him and he can’t get to his wound. It’s been a godsend for me and my dog.

Such a lifesaver after TPLO surgery
Our dog gets super depressed wearing the cone of shame, so we bought her this vest for her TPLO surgery recovery. It is perfect! We ordered according to the measurements listed and it fit great, which was surprising because our pup has very short legs and a long body. She seems comforted having her leg covered and her body hugged by the jacket, and shows fewer signs of discomfort when she has it on. We are so happy we made this purchase for her.

After our rambunctious Goldendoodle had a large tumor removed from his back leg, we fought with him for days to keep the cone on. The cone upset him more than the surgery. We tried wrapping the incision with gauze which didn’t stay on. Neither did the sock. Then we tried a makeshift tshirt around his backside to cover the incision. He hated that too and somehow managed to get it off while we were gone for an hour. Found this gem on Amazon and it arrived 3 days later. We used the online measurements as a guide and it fits him well. It’s lightweight and very soft, great quality. He definitely doesn’t hate it! He seems very comfortable in it, almost proud to be wearing it:) He hasn’t even tried to get it off as it allows him plenty of movement to run and play while still protecting his incision. So thankful to have found this as he continues to heal.

Great product! Perfect for post surgery!
We were looking for an alternative for the cone of shame. Most body coverings for dogs only take care of the back and chest, or entire full body. Our dog had surgery on his cruciate ligament and we really only needed to cover his rear leg. This is perfect! It lets him be protected from himself to lick and gives him room to breathe. He is a fit 90 lb golden retriever and we got the second to last size. Fits him perfectly. Thank you!

The Owner of Buckwheat Dog went above and beyond with customer service. We had an issue with the suit as our husky managed to chew a hole in the side of the suit (trying to lick his wound). The Owner remade the suit and actually doubled the material where his wound would be. She then met us half way to deliver the new suit. We were both from the Cleveland area. Awesome customer service which is almost non existent in this day and age.

Best Idea Ever
This is the best solution for dogs that have had surgery or hot spots on their rear legs. My dog has worn it for a week now and the sutures from his tplo surgery are healing nicely. It is easy to put on and take off and my dog can move around as normal. I was looking for a suit for my male dog who had a minor surgery on his hind leg and stomach area. I was concerned about him picking at the stitches and staples he received. I tried many other recovery suits and it is hard to find something for a male dog that you don’t have to take on and off to go to the bathroom. I ordered the XL given the specs and it was a little too big for my 75 pound dog. Dana the owner reached out and asked if everything was ok and just told her I wanted to try a large. Dana replaced and had a new suite to me in a few days. The large was slightly too small and just as I was about to give up Dana reached out again and let me know they do half sizes and asked for measurements. Dana had a custom suit sent to me within a couple of days. I appreciate people like Dana who you can tell wants to please a customer. Thank you Dana!

An Incredible Idea
My 9 month old Doodle dislocated his knee and had to have surgery. That meant the “cone of shame” for two weeks. We have a smaller donut from when he was neutered, but he could still get to his leg, which has a very long incision. I sent his measurements in and a few days later his suit arrived. It fits perfectly! It’s made so well. We can take the donut off when we’re watching him because he’s essentially wearing pants! I’m so grateful to have made this purchase. Don’t think twice…this is the right buy!

Innovated Solution to the Cone of Shame!
I purchased this recovery suit for my dog when she had surgery on her upper back leg. It worked wonderfully, better than expected. She wore it for the full time she had her stiches. My Vet even thought it was an innovated idea. She said my dog's incision healed great. The company was great to work with. The first one I ordered was a little small. Dana from the company worked with me until we had the correctly fitting suit. I would definitely recommend this product and this company. My dog didn't mind wear the suit at all even though this was the first time she had any type of clothing on.

Fantastic!
Vega had TPLO surgery for an ACL tear and came home with a huge cone. Even though she had a soft, flexible one, it was so big she kept stepping in it and tripping and bumping into things. I couldn’t get her to relax and sleep today. As soon as the Buckwheat arrived, I took off the cone and put it on her and she immediately went to sleep. Ordering was easy. This was awesome for my dog after TPLO surgery ~ he didn’t object to wearing it at all. It’s so well made ~ easy to put on and take off for cleaning,My dog doesn’t do well with a cone and looking at 2/3 weeks of incision healing this was wonderful !!

Couldn't have made it through without it
These "pants" worked really well. I didn't order the right size the first time and the maker sent me a different size with a tweak to fit my dog. It kept him out of the cone during the day and provided me with an extra layer between his incision and his mouth (time to stop him from chewing/licking post op). Worth every penny.

Game changer!
This coat has perfectly met our needs! Our dog was attacked and sustained significant wounds on her back leg. We are bandaging the entire thigh for 8 weeks or so. We tried the single leg cover by another manufacturer, but that pulled on the bandages and made things worse. This coat has protected the bandages and prevented our dog from licking. The suit is well constructed with sturdy velcro, and the owner went above and beyond! With a greyhound, the standard sizing didn't quite work, but Dana helped us and we received our suit quickly. I am so glad we found this - it has made a stressful time much easier!

My dog was going to have ACL surgery, and I was worried about him with a cone and all this issue that come with that. When I found this on Amazon I immediately bought it.This was SO EASY! He didn’t fuss with his incision once and my vet clinic was asking me where I got it. We had is post op check up today to remove the staples and the doctor was incredibly pleased with how the incision looked. He said even with cones he has dogs come in with issues. I gave him all the info I had about this body suit for his future patients.It was super easy for us with icing and heat as well since the the body suit covered his skin.I recommend this 100%

Helped our pup heal from surgery
Our dog had surgery on her back leg and she could still lick her leg with a cone and inflatable tube around her neck. We bought these leggings and within a week her irritated leg was almost healed. I highly recommend if you have a dog who will lick their wounds until their surrounding skin is raw. Plus, these leggings seem to be more comfortable for her than the cone was.The quality of the leggings are really good, the velcro is so strong, and it's machine washable.

The first product had a flaw and I contacted Dana right away, she replied back the next day and replaced the item immediately (my pup also needed a bigger size). It's not a perfect fit on my pup but it does its job for what I needed it. Hopefully my pup can finally heal up. It's good material, almost a bit too thick for the hot Florida weather, but it also seems sturdy to hold up. Time will tell on this. Overall, I am very happy with the service and product.

Not for long bodied dogs
It's hard to make a product that fits all the dog bodies out there- this didn't work for my Shiba who is just too long in the torso, but it seems like a great item for dogs that are more short-bodied.

Great solution for my dog's bad licking habit
My dog has a bad habit of licking his back legs. He wears socks 24/7, but he has also learned to push the socks down to lick his upper thigh. This is the perfect solution so he can't get to his legs. Dana, the owner of the company, was amazing to work with and was able to customize a suit that fit Tucker's long body and long legs.

So this sadly didn’t work out for my particular pup. He is an oddball and preferred to wear the cone. Apparently my Dobby doesn’t like clothes or want to be a free elf (that’s my dogs name, it’s a Harry Potter reference for those who don’t know). But the design was great and the customer service was stellar. The first one I ordered was much too big around the bum despite measuring. My dog has a huge chest, short body, and long legs. But the suit came with a lovely letter from the designer with her email and phone number to contact for help. I texted her and promptly got a response. I measured him exactly and she re-made a custom size suit just for him. And when that still didn’t quite work out, to no fault of theirs, they still accepted the returned items. I did have to pay for return shipping, but I felt it more than fair considering that she paid the extra money to ship the second suit overnight!!! I can’t recommend this company enough. I think most dogs would do super well in it. I just have an oddball. If your dogs measurement doesn’t quite fit their sizes, contact them first and they can help you get the right size before ordering!!

The “onesie” has been the most valuable asset to the healing of our dog. We will always recommend this instead of the Cone of Shame. We could hold her, care for her, comfort her after a terrible injury to her hind leg. The vet has been very impressed with the miraculous healing since using this due to cleanliness, stability, comfort.

My dog has hot spots this suit works perfectly. It’s breathable, so the wound is healing, but tough enough that my dog can’t lick through it!! Working with Dana was wonderful. She made the back legs a bit longer for a custom fit. It’s so great to not have to use a cone. Shipping was very fast and you can’t beat the customer service.

An absolute MUST for TPLO surgery recovery!!
Just wanted to share something to those of you with pups going though or about to head into surgery and recovery. Maverick had TPLO surgery this past Monday and came home with a cone. A cone which due to his size, he was still able to reach his incision. After frantically trying to extend his cone on our own to prevent him from licking, my husband and I spent the entire night on dog watch. After listening to him whine and cry all night coming off the anesthesia, he still couldn’t calm down the next day with the humongous cone.**Note: we’ve been though ccl surgery before with our pup Diesel however he had TTA surgery and came home in a full leg soft cast (which presented its own set of challenges); However, the un-bandaged, accessible incision was a whole new ballgame**My husband left for work and I literally cried helplessly watching my big baby struggle to move, eat, potty or even just get somewhat comfortable. (My meltdown and panic also stemming from the fact that in 8-12 weeks Mav has to go through surgery on his other leg for ccl). I desperately searched the internet and Amazon for some sort of sleeve to protect his leg. After probably a half dozen searches that had mediocre reviews, I came across Buckwheat Dog on Amazon. Buckwheat is a recovery suit that protects both legs and fits comfortably around the dog’s chest and midsection. I went to their website directly, looked at the sizes and quickly measured Maverick. Being that he is 150lbs, I was not sure if the biggest size they had would fit him. I also wondered how long it would take to get to So. CA from Ohio. I called their contact number and was greeted by Dana, Buckwheat Dog’s founder. I explained my situation and she helped me determine if a suit would fit him. She said that she would custom modify his suit AND ship it out that day (it was already 1pm in CA). I paid for the suit and overnight delivery, called my husband and told him I believed I found our savior from two weeks of cone hell!Another sleepless, cone-filled night passed and I literally counted the minutes until fedex came. By this time Mav’s incision looked angry (despite cone and no licking thanks to our round the clock surveillance). We got home from a trip to the vet to evaluate the incision, cleaned the wound, tossed the cone aside and put on the Buckwheat suit for the first time. We watched as he laid down and and actually rested for the first time in 48 hours!! Not wanting to jump the gun, we waited and watched for him to try to lick, bite, tear or claw at his leg through the suit. Nothing of the sort!! He slept and moved (the little bit he was allowed) so comfortably. We kept a close eye that night to make sure he didn’t get to his leg which unbelievably he didn’t.It’s now been two days since his suit has been on (with some supervised breaks here and there) and he is so incredibly peaceful and happy. Not sure if I can credit the suit, but thankfully Mav’s incision is a ton better and improving each day more and more. ❤️❤️❤️❤️Sorry for the long post but I am truly amazed by this suit and how it’s saved Maverick so much trauma and stress from having to wear that cone. Not to mention the anguish and heartache we felt watching him struggle and lack of sleep!I have spoken to Dana now twice- once to thank her for her ingenuity and help and a second to discuss modifications to even better fit Maverick’s size for a second suit (I want to have a backup while I’m washing the first). Dana is a gem and I am so thankful to have been able to speak with her directly! Top notch customer service!Oh yeah, did I mention that the material is super durable as is the construction. They are machine washable and dryer safe and the best part… they allow dogs to potty (both types) with them on!Long story longer 🤪, I just felt I had to share my experience with using this suit as it really saved us all from a miserable two weeks with a cone and we are forever grateful for it! I encourage those of you facing this type of surgery, or even just hotspots, to try out this suit. It is a miracle!!

Life saver for post surgery recovery
We bought this to help our boy recover from his knee surgery. He didn’t like the process of putting it on so much but once it was on he didn’t seem to notice. Fantastic design that allows him to go both #1 & #2 outside without having to remove it. Such a life saver because now we don’t have to use the cone of shame! The material is thick enough that even if he licks the wound a little bit the moisture doesn’t seem to get through to his leg.

Amazing Product and Customer Service!
My 85lb pittie had to have TPLO surgery. He's ok with the "donut" until it's bedtime. For whatever reason, he's afraid of it then. Needless to say, Mom wasn't getting much sleep. I found this product and thought it was worth a shot. He's worn jammies before, so I knew it wouldn't be an issue. Being a pittie, he's oddly sized huge in some places, smaller in others. I contacted Dana with the custom measurements and she called me! In my experience, that's unheard of these days. She called, because she wasn't sure if I had gotten her message via Amazon, which I hadn't. We talked about his measurements and like a pro she knew just what he needed and she sent them out that day! Two days later, the suit came. The quality is great and its so easy to put on! Her instructions were super clear and helpful! Including using a pantyliner on the inside of the suit wherever they may lick. Genius! I also love the way the leg comes over the hock and stays there, so you don't have to worry about the pants slipping down. The only issue we had was the chest was too small. I contacted her asking for suggestions and she is sending out a velcro extender!!! With that, they'll fit him perfectly! I cannot say enough about Dana or her product. Kudos!!

Fantastic product
Our 7 year old Weimeraner had ACL surgery and we looked in several online pet shops for lick sleeves. I checked Amazon and found Buckwheat product. After measuring our dog and looking at Dana’s chart, I ordered and in one day…one day, I received the sleeve. I’m in Florida, she’s in Ohio!! We had no problem putting the “outfit” on our dog and she walked around, went potty and slept in it with no issue. The previous night, she tried licking the wound so we slept next to her to stop her when she tried again. The next day we ordered this sleeve and got a nights sleep! Dana is a visionary and a wonderful representative of her company. I left a voicemail and within moments, I was talking to her as she guided me on best fit for our 92 pound girl. This has taken a tremendous burden off us where we don’t have to constantly watch to make sure she’s not licking and this protects the wound, insures healing process. This is by far a good quality product and very well engineered. The material is light and the Velcro is strong. We will be doing business with Dana in the future as our second Weimeraner is very active and loves to run after rabbits!

We have unfortunately had to use this suit more than once as our dog had surgical complications. When our dog was already in pain and suffering, it was such a relief to put the Buckwheat suit on him instead of the uncomfortable cone. The suit is washable, easy to put on, and as a bonus keeps the shaved leg warm. The Buckwheat customer service was superior when I called with a question. If your dog needs to have rear leg surgery, this suit is a necessity.

Just Awesome
Love, love this suit. My dog had double knee surgery, torn both ACL's. She came home with a tie on leg sleeve on both legs. The first night was a disaster, they got all tangled. So I looked to see if there was anything else out there to protect her stitches and found this suit. I did pay for expedited shipping as I was desperate but it was well worth it. The only real issue with it is that it's warm on my dog. Buckwheat Dogs is very willing to work with you to make sure it's right and fits properly, extremely helpful and would highly recommend this suit.Update, stitches are out and x-rays have shown that she has healed extremely well and I believe that having this suit on her healed a lot. Very awesome! Can't say enough positive things, everyone is stressed as it is and this suit takes part of that away.

So much better than a cone!
This came super fast, fit perfectly and is so much better than a cone. My dog isn’t used to wearing “clothes”, but she’s tolerating it fine. She’s 75 lbs, built like a Doberman - broad chested, but lean like a Doberman - and the XL worked great. She had a cruciate ligament extracapsular repair last week and is healing well. This product has kept her from being able to lick the incision which would cause an infection. We did put a panty liner inside the suit as we have to apply ointment to her incision twice a day. Plus since they shaved half her back end, it helps to keep her warm as it’s been cold here this week. We may wish we had 2 as she has to wear it for 2 weeks and it may get dirty.

My Great Dane just had ACL surgery and this suit is awesome for her. Could be a little bigger but better than a cone. The fabric is super soft and she wasn't able to get out of the suit at night. Finally everybody can get some sleep. I recommend it to everyone who want's to escape the cone and has to cover the legs. No need to take it off during bathroom breaks either. It's wonderful

This suit helped us through two leg surgeries and now tumor/cyst removal
We used the body suit during Jaspers first cruciate ligament surgery 3 years ago and the second about a year ago, and are now using it to protect his stitches (from removal of growths on his back and side). It has been so comfortable for him and still looks almost new! The velcro made it simple to open the suit every day this week to check the status of his incisions.

Awesome for a dog before/after surgery for rear legs/back area
Due to operator error, measured wrong. I emailed Dana right away, I didn't expect an answer for a week. 45 minutes later Dana is asking for the proper measurements and send the correct one out the next day! I received it a couple days later, perfect fit! My dog has a skintag on her hip that she keeps licking, can't get it removed until July. This outfit stops her from getting at her skintag and she finally leaves it alone. I was using a cone of shame AND a Kong Cloud at the same time. Very uncomfortable! Now she can wear her Buckwheat Dog Hind Limb Sleeve all day, doesn't get overheated and she stays comfortable. If it's storming, I can snug it up a bit and she feels calmer. Wonderful product, wonderful service, great price, love it all around!
